Aerospace company SpaceX has signed an agreement with the developer of artificial intelligence for programmers Cursor. This was announced in an official message from the company on the social network X.
The message notes that the SpaceXAI and Cursor teams are currently working closely to create artificial intelligence for writing code and optimizing intellectual work.
Cursor CEO Michael Truell confirmed the partnership, saying the two companies will work on scaling the Composer AI model.
“I’m excited to partner with the SpaceX team to scale Composer. This is a significant step in our journey to creating the best AI programming environment,” Truell wrote .
In its official press release, Cursor clarified that the main goal of the deal is to accelerate the training of their AI models. The developers noted that until now they had faced a lack of computing power, although each previous scaling (in particular for the Composer 1.5 and Composer 2 models) significantly increased their efficiency.
“Thanks to this partnership, our team will be able to leverage xAI’s Colossus infrastructure to dramatically increase the intelligence of our models,” the startup said in a statement.
Recall that in February of this year, Elon Musk merged SpaceX with his AI startup xAI in a deal that valued the newly formed company at $1.25 trillion. He is now preparing to take it public, which could be a record-breaking IPO.
For its part, Cursor has been actively seeking funding recently. It was previously reported that the AI startup for programmers is in talks to raise $2 billion in investment at a valuation of over $50 billion. The funding round was expected to be co-led by Andreessen Horowitz with participation from Nvidia and Thrive Capital.
