Elon Musk's SpaceX company has begun to apply countermeasures against the use of Starlink on Russian "shaheeds" at the request of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
This was announced by military expert in the field of drones and electronic warfare Serhiy "Flash" Beskrestnov, who recently joined the team of advisors to the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov.
Recall that after confirmed cases of hostile attacks by Starlink UAVs on civilian objects appeared, the Ministry of Defense contacted SpaceX and proposed ways to solve this problem. The company responded and began to take measures to limit it.
"Many users of the Starlink satellite communication system in Ukraine are already observing the first countermeasures that SpaceX has taken at the request of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. I cannot publicly announce everything that has been done, is being done, and will be done, but all these actions are aimed at one goal: Protecting the residents of our country (both military and civilian) and our infrastructure from the threat from enemy strike UAVs," Flash wrote in his Telegram channel.
But he stressed that the current solutions are extreme. Later, global and more thoughtful solutions will be used, but these will take time.
Flash also added that they plan to collect all information about military Starlink users across the country, as many soldiers who use their own or volunteer Starlinks did not want to notify the command beforehand.
"We will definitely come up with a way to collect information on the Army so that the soldiers trust us with this information. I would also like to say that SpaceX is involved in the process and is helping the specialists of the Ministry of Defense," the military expert noted.
