German defense company HENSOLDT has signed a memorandum with Ukrainian Fire Point to jointly develop a ground-based air defense system capable of detecting and intercepting enemy ballistic missiles.

This is stated on the HENSOLDT website, Suspilne reports .
In the joint project, HENSOLDT will be responsible for the production, testing and supply of radar systems for the missile defense system and will support their integration into the overall system.
For this, the German company will use the TRML-4D radar.
In turn, Fire Point will be the general contractor and will assume responsibility for the design of the missile defense system. Fire Point will test and supply its FP-7 missiles, including launchers and system controls.
«The collaboration with Fire Point on the FREYJA project is an important step towards a scaled-up European contribution to ballistic missile defense,» said HENSOLDT CEO Oliver Dörre.
