Superhuman turns Coda into smart documents with ChatGPT and Claude integration

Superhuman, formerly known as Grammarly, has launched a new collaborative product, Superhuman Docs. The platform is a logical extension of the Coda service, acquired by the developer in 2025, and offers users a hybrid of a classic text editor with generative artificial intelligence.

As dev.ua learned directly from Superhuman, the updated service has entered the corporate ecosystem of Superhuman Suite. Its key feature is a completely rebuilt Docs AI assistant. The algorithm is able not only to generate texts based on ordinary text queries, but also to independently create formatted tables, build formulas, collect data from other files, and track the progress of team tasks.

Among the technological innovations, the developers highlight the AI views tool, which is currently in closed beta testing. It allows you to generate custom interfaces and dashboards simply based on existing tabular data, which is automatically updated in real time. To work with large arrays, the company introduced Superhuman Databases, a storage that can process up to a million rows. In addition, thanks to the MCP protocol, the developers have implemented the ability to connect external AI clients, such as ChatGPT, Claude, and Cursor, which allows them to read and edit documents directly.

The company explains the launch by saying that most current AI tools are still focused on individual productivity. Typically, generated content remains in a separate chat and has to be manually transferred to team trackers, losing context for other employees.

“For over 10 years, we’ve been developing Coda to be the most flexible collaboration space. When AI is available in the same environment where a team is already collaborating, it stops being a personal tool in a separate window and empowers the entire group. Anyone can describe a need, and our algorithm will use the context of the document and immediately create a result,” explains Lane Shackleton, Head of Superhuman Docs.

Starting today, the new product is gradually becoming available to all customers in the Superhuman Suite ecosystem. At the same time, current Coda users will be automatically transferred to the updated platform, while maintaining access to new AI features. Along with the release, the company also released updated native applications for macOS, iOS and Android.

As a reminder, Superhuman is the result of the evolution and large-scale rebranding of Ukrainian startup Grammarly , which historically specialized in English spelling checkers. In 2024, the company acquired the popular collaboration platform Coda , which was a strategic move to expand its own toolset and enter the market of comprehensive enterprise project management solutions.
