"I think this is absolutely the right decision, and we are ready for it." Hetmantsev announced the next tax increase for people with high incomes based on the principle of a progressive tax scale.
The next convocation of the Verkhovna Rada after the end of the war will be forced to adopt a progressive personal income tax scale, which will provide for an increase in taxes for Ukrainians with high official incomes.
The next convocation of the Verkhovna Rada after the end of the war will be forced to adopt a progressive personal income tax scale, which will provide for an increase in taxes for Ukrainians with high official incomes.
This was stated by Danylo Hetmantsev, chairman of the parliamentary Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy (Servant of the People), in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.
«And there, part of the scale will be higher than 18%, part will be lower. I think this is absolutely the right decision, which we are already ready for,» said Hetmantsev.
At the same time, he assured that the recently increased military levy rate from 1,5% to 5% will be in effect only until the end of martial law.
«The deadline is clearly defined, no changes to the law are needed, no discussions are needed — these 3,5% will jump off by themselves,» the Chairman of the Committee noted.
He also rejected the idea that raising the military levy to 5% and a number of other taxes could lead to the growth of the shadow economy.
«These are absolutely absurd manipulative talks from pseudo-experts about provoking the shadow economy with this law. I am even ashamed to comment that an increase of „as much as“ 3,5% in the military fee forces people to go into the shadows. We know that shadow salaries are one of the most common tax evasion schemes throughout the years of independence. Therefore, this will not affect the shadow economy in any way,» the deputy believes.
The chairman of the committee emphasized that, on the contrary, a trend towards wage de-shadowing is currently being recorded, which is associated with several reasons.
«The first is the position of responsible business, which is purposefully coming out of the shadows and generally abandoning tax evasion schemes. The second is the issue of reservation from mobilization, where the current requirement for an average salary is set at UAH 20,000,» Hetmantsev recalled.
