The fighters of the 475th Assault Regiment CODE 9.2 demonstrated effective combat tactics in which heavy armored vehicles work in a single system with drones. The main innovation is the use of Ukrainian FPV drones as mobile air defense means to protect tanks from enemy drones.
The new tactics became known from video footage of assault operations published by representatives of the unit on YouTube.
The other day, the CODE 9.2 regiment carried out a raid on Russian positions near the settlement of Vilhuvatka. The attack involved two tanks, which moved under close air support from several types of UAVs: reconnaissance, strike bombers, and FPV. Later, the military released a video of another similar raid near the village of Anishchyne.
A key feature of these operations was that the FPV escort drones acted as aerial interceptors. Their task was to patrol the space above the armored vehicles, detect and destroy enemy drones before they could harm the tanks. The published footage captures the moment of the successful interception of an enemy aerial target by a Ukrainian drone.
During the battle, one of the Ukrainian tanks was hit by an enemy FPV kamikaze. However, thanks to comprehensive cover, serious damage was avoided: both vehicles completed the mission and returned to base under their own power.
