“The competition is very aggressive, but it’s even motivating.” Uklon CEO Serhiy Grishkov spoke about expansion into international markets
Despite stiff competition from Russia's Yandex and the need for further investment, Uklon has established itself as the second largest ride-hailing company in Uzbekistan with a market share of about 8% and provides over a million rides per month. The company plans to enter the Pakistani market.
Despite stiff competition from Russia's Yandex and the need for further investment, Uklon has established itself as the second largest ride-hailing company in Uzbekistan with a market share of about 8% and provides over a million rides per month. The company plans to enter the Pakistani market.
Ukrainian ride-hailing service Uklon, which has been actively developing its activities in Uzbekistan for more than two years, remains an investment project for now, but is demonstrating significant progress. This was stated by the company's CEO Serhiy Grishkov in an interview with "Ekonomichna Pravda". Uklon expects to achieve self-sufficiency within three to four years, and a full return on investment in five to six years.
According to Grishkov, in Tashkent, Uklon is the second player on the market with a share of about 8% and carries out more than a million trips per month. The number of drivers reaches about 10 thousand and is constantly growing. The first player on the Uzbek market is Yandex, which operates under two brands and even created an additional sub-brand to counter Uklon.
Despite the active support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and Uzbekistan's membership in the CSTO, Uklon has not faced any restrictions or "spokes in the wheels" from local authorities or political players. The company notes that competition within the country is transparent, and Uzbekistan demonstrates openness to international companies and investors, including significant investments from China and the United States.
After joining the Veon group , Uklon plans to select new markets where the parent company already has an operational base. This opens up opportunities for expansion in countries such as Kazakhstan and Pakistan, where working groups for market analysis and research have already been established. In Pakistan, Veon is represented by the mobile operator Jazz.
Previously, Uklon tried to enter the markets of Georgia, Azerbaijan, Moldova, the Baltic countries, Poland, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic, but failed to gain a foothold in them. In particular, the Ukrainian company worked in Azerbaijan for only a year and left the local market due to legislative changes.
