The iron is moving — people are returning: "Come Back Alive" launched a project on robotics from scratch RoboBro

The "Return Alive" charity foundation announced the launch of the RoboBro project, the goal of which is the mass introduction of ground robotic complexes (GRCs) for logistics and medical evacuation at the front. The initiative involves not only the purchase of equipment, but also the creation of an entire infrastructure where military engineers and programmers independently develop software and modernize control systems.

As dev.ua learned from representatives of the foundation, non-public support for evacuations using NRCs has been ongoing since January 2026. During this time, robotic platforms have already helped rescue 42 servicemen from the most dangerous areas of the front.

Application experience shows that serial solutions are often not enough for specific combat missions. To work effectively on the front line, a comprehensive ecosystem is required: the platforms themselves, Starlink terminals, electronic warfare equipment and adapted control systems. Therefore, the units have their own teams of engineers who rewrite the software, add batteries and improve communications.

"We have our own IT department, which independently developed the software for controlling the UAV, and we use only it. This allows us to quickly implement new technological solutions. We also upgraded the communication to communicate with the wounded during evacuation. Manufacturers do not do this," said the platoon commander of the unmanned ground systems company of the 92nd UAV Brigade, call sign "Booster."

Within the framework of the project, the fund will purchase exclusively Ukrainian-made complexes: "Maul", "Targan 200", "Volya-E" and "Simba". Their cost, depending on the configuration, ranges from 400,000 to over 1 million hryvnias. It is noted that domestic platforms are better adapted to the realities of war than more expensive foreign analogues, but Ukrainian manufacturers are currently facing the challenge of scaling - the demand of the army significantly exceeds the production capabilities of companies. Seven units will join RoboBro at the start, including the 92nd OShBr, 93rd OMB, 110th OMB and the Department of Active Operations of the GUR.

According to the deputy director of the foundation, Oleg Karpenko, the main idea is to transfer human functions to machines where possible. The initiative plans to develop the direction of ground robotic complexes in the Defense Forces to the level of mass and efficiency that aerial drones have now reached.

You can support RoboBro and invest in preserving the human resources of the Defense Forces of Ukraine on the project website .
