The American publication The Defense Post has published its final list of the top 100 companies developing air, land, and sea drone technology. It includes three well-known Ukrainian UAV manufacturers.
«Inclusion in this ranking is not just recognition, but a mark of distinction, a testament to the company’s innovation, influence, and sustained leadership in the rapidly developing defense industry», — The Defense Post notes.
How the rating was made
The publication claims that the ranking reflects a thorough independent assessment of global companies involved in drone technology, which is based solely on drone-related revenues and the significance of their contribution to the development of unmanned systems.
The methodology took into account annual revenue, R&D investment, growth trajectory, and promising innovations. The list does not include companies that are state-owned or controlled by the state (with a state ownership share of 50,1% or more).
The Defense Post did not include companies with opaque ownership structures or documented cooperation with sanctioned regimes, including those that «have close ties to the Russian government.» They were not included in the ranking, regardless of their technological capabilities.
Top 10 drone companies in the world according to The Defense Post
General Atomics (USA).
Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (USA).
Baykar (Turkey).
RTX (USA).
Elbit Systems (Israel).
Anduril Industries (USA).
BlueHalo (USA).
Leonardo (Italy).
Teledyne FLIR (USA).
AEVEX Aerospace (USA).
The top ten manufacturers include well-known companies such as the Turkish Baykar, which produces the Bayraktar TB2 UAV, and relatively new startups such as the American Anduril, which integrates AI technologies into drones.
Ukrainian companies among the best drone manufacturers
The list includes: the manufacturer of the FPV «Kolibri» TAF Drones, the manufacturer of Shark drones Ukrspecsystems, and Airlogix, which produces the reconnaissance UAV «Gor».
22nd place TAF Drones. In 2024 , the production of drones by Ukrainian TAF Drones increased from 6,000 to 40,000. The company’s revenue for the first half of 2024 amounted to $160 million. The company’s revenue from importing spare parts during this time reached $500 million. For the whole year, the figures will reach $1 billion from equipment and $250 million from drones.
«The company is distinguished by its decentralized, „nomadic“ production model in different cities, which makes it resistant to enemy attacks and allows it to quickly expand production. TAF Drones’ primary mission is to use technology to increase military effectiveness and protect the lives of soldiers,» The Defense Post notes.
65th place Ukrspecsystems. The Kyiv-based drone company is best known for its SHARK and MINI SHARK UAVs, which are highly regarded by the Ukrainian military. In January 2025, Ukrspecsystems introduced the SHARK-M electric complex, which can perform fully autonomous reconnaissance tasks, operating at any time of the day.
«The company, which emerged as a result of the urgent need for reliable domestic unmanned aerial vehicles in Ukraine, has gained a strong reputation as a manufacturer of battle-tested, reliable and cost-effective systems. Ukrspecsystems focuses on its own research, development and production of both platforms and critical subsystems, ensuring reliable operation and adaptability to dynamic combat conditions,» the authors of the rating characterize the company.
84th place Airlogix. The startup is known for the reconnaissance UAV «Gor», which is designed for reconnaissance and artillery adjustment at altitudes up to 3500 m.
«The company initially focused on cargo drones, but after the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, it quickly reoriented its activities to support defense needs. Airlogix focuses on developing highly reliable, easy-to-use, and rapid-to-deploy systems that have been tested in real combat conditions,» The Defense Post notes.
