The American leader announced this during a conversation with journalists on October 22, notes a correspondent for "Social". According to her, when asked by the media whether he personally called the owner of SpaceX with a demand to restore the full operation of the satellite network for the Ukrainian military, Trump avoided a direct answer, but confirmed the fact of the restoration of communication.
"I don’t want to comment on that — whether I called or someone else, it doesn’t matter. The key thing is that he got it [speed] back," Trump was quoted as saying by the Clash Report.
The US President called the situation "very interesting" and added that he has a "very good relationship" with Elon Musk, declining to provide other details.
On the eve of Trump’s statements, The Wall Street Journal published an article stating that the US President personally called Musk with a request to remove limits on the use of Starlink in Ukraine. According to the newspaper’s sources, Trump expressed dissatisfaction with the speed restrictions that were in force for the military version of the terminals.
Immediately after this conversation, the speed of satellite Internet for Ukrainian users increased, although the system’s full functionality had not yet been restored at that time.
The Ukrainian authorities have not yet officially commented on the information about the lifting of restrictions on Starlink operations.
However, on X (11 hours ago at the time of publication), Dmytro Lytvyn, the Communications Advisor to the President of Ukraine, reported that the Starlink speed limits had not been lifted.
"We see the same limit (So as for now — nothing has chang," Lytvyn wrote.
