The task force's main task is to ensure US global leadership in technology development, as well as coordinate the government's cooperation with consumers, civil and religious organizations, critical infrastructure providers and technology developers. The unit will report directly to the president and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wise, the BBC reports .
The new unit will also include Federal Trade Commission Chairman Andrew Ferguson, Undersecretary of Defense for Research and Engineering Emile Michael, and Director of Human Resources Scott Cooper.
The chairman of the task force, Jay Clayton, who previously served as the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, commented on the topic of artificial intelligence, noting: "When something is both an opportunity and a threat, it's better to take full control of it."
The American leader previously announced his intention to create a “Super Intelligence Force” on his social network Truth Social. Later, on September 29, Donald Trump issued a decree officially renaming “artificial intelligence” (AI) to “super intelligence” (SI / Super Intelligence). This all probably caused a “boom” of Slovenian domains, because .si is the national domain zone of Slovenia, the demand for which soared more than 20 times in September.
In addition, Trump announced the creation of an AI safety oversight board last week, after the heads of major tech companies — including OpenAI, Anthropic, SpaceX, and Google — signed a pact on regulating the technology that the US president called “morally binding.”
