«Unfortunately, the registration of Ukrainians located in Ukraine was limited due to regulatory uncertainty. Ukrainians who are EU residents, that is, permanently residing in the EU and having the appropriate legal status, can freely access Trustee Plus services,» the company’s support service reported.
There are many reasons for this decision, the companies note. But the lack of legal certainty is of considerable importance. «We have officially decided to postpone expansion plans to the Ukrainian market and stop researching this market,» the message says.
Currently, the company does not specify a timeframe when the situation may change.
«If you are not in a sanctioned jurisdiction, most services will be available to you except for the payment card, our joint product with Quicko. That is, you will not be able to become a Quicko client,» Trustee added.
There is also no information regarding old users — it is currently unknown whether Trustee Plus services will continue to work for them.
Last week, it became known that the Ukrainian parliament postponed consideration of a key bill on the legalization of virtual assets and taxation of cryptocurrencies, despite the fact that it was supported by the relevant committee and expected by the IMF. The reason was an unexpected initiative from regulators and a decision made at the level of the Parliament.
Earlier, the founder and CEO of the crypto wallet Trustee Plus, Vadym Grusha, reacted to the decision of parliamentarians to postpone consideration of the long-awaited bill on the legalization of virtual assets and taxation of cryptocurrencies.
According to anonymous sources in the Verkhovna Rada, the bill may not return to the session hall until June. However, under pressure from the IMF or EU partners, the process may be accelerated.
In March, the founder of the Kuna cryptocurrency exchange, Mykhailo Chobanyan, sent a letter to the platform’s users announcing the closure of the project.
