“This will be a cold shower for many.” Tencore co-founder believes that Ukrainian miltech has greatly exaggerated expectations from the opening of arms exports
Co-founder and director of Tencore, Maksym Vasylchenko, does not share the significant excitement about the potential opening of arms exports for Ukrainian manufacturers.
Co-founder and director of Tencore, Maksym Vasylchenko, does not share the significant excitement about the potential opening of arms exports for Ukrainian manufacturers.
As Vasylchenko noted in an interview with dev.ua, he personally divides this issue into two points.
«2025 has become the year of the NRC, but to meet the need on the front line, 40,000 robots are needed.» Interview with the co-founder of Tencore, the largest manufacturer of ground robotic systems in Ukraine
«First, it’s a notorious arms export blockbuster. In my opinion, opening up exports will be a cold shower for many. Not everyone needs our products, because any country will be motivated to invest money in its development, for its defense, in its people. Therefore, I am sure that after they allow exports, people will see that no one wants to buy their products and will again look for the guilty in the Rada, the President, or someone else — they don’t buy us because someone didn’t do something,» he shared his expectations.
The second point in this regard, according to the director of Tencore, concerns the opening of joint venture companies, which will have Ukrainian and European shares of the company.
«The money from this company should flow back to the parent company, which is in Ukraine. The money should return to Ukraine, from any sales. Currently, this procedure is being worked out by the Office of the President — how this should happen, at what prices, what is the order and who will receive the shipment,» said the director of Tencore.
Maksym Vasylchenko also expressed confidence that if we are talking about purely military technologies, then these should be G2G (government to government) sales.
«The rules should be international, the same for all countries, so that there are no double standards,» Vasylchenko is convinced.
At the same time, the Executive Director of the Technological Forces of Ukraine, Kateryna Mykhalko , stated that the Verkhovna Rada is working on a draft law on arms exports, which should lay the foundations for legislative regulation of this process.
Kateryna Myhalko, TSU: «Ukraine has a surplus of drone capabilities. We call it a surplus not because the army doesn’t need it, but because our state doesn’t contract it.» A great interview about arms exports and the pitfalls of miltech
