«Now, when a YouTube creator in the US releases a new video, within minutes a fan in Korea, a fan in Brazil, and a fan in India will be able to watch it in their native language,» the YouTube blog reported .
The company notes that creators who uploaded multilingual audio tracks to their videos observed that on average, more than 25% of viewing time was in languages that were not the primary languages for the video.
«Two years ago, this goal was at the heart of our multilingual audio pilot, which allowed a small group of creators to add their own dubs in multiple languages. Since then, we’ve seen the impact it can have,» YouTube stated.
In particular, according to the company, on chef Jamie Oliver’s channel, the use of multilingual audio tracks increased the number of views threefold.
Recall that the YouTube video service launched the automatic dubbing function in a number of languages at the end of 2024: then dubbing options became available in the «languages» section when uploading videos through YouTube Studio.
At the same time, as dev.ua reported,YouTube began using artificial intelligence algorithms to process videos without the authors' knowledge or permission. This became known after complaints from popular bloggers who noticed strange artifacts in their videos.
