Russia plans to introduce a “digital ruble” for total control of the population — GUR

The Central Bank of Russia plans to introduce the so-called "digital ruble", which will be fully under the control of the authorities - every transaction will be tracked.

This was reported by the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR).

According to Ukrainian intelligence, Russian state employees will begin receiving salaries in virtual rubles from the beginning of 2026.

Spending of digital rubles will be limited by the citizen's place of residence or type of goods. Accounts will also be blocked and taxes and fines will be automatically deducted from them without a court decision. Social benefits can only be spent on specific groups of goods and services, which will be determined by the authorities.

According to the GUR, this is another step by the Kremlin regime towards strengthening total control over the population.

"The creation and implementation of a 'digital ruble' could potentially lead to the emergence of a 'behavioral loyalty' system - access to money and the freedom to manage it will depend on the political or social 'reliability' of a citizen," the GUR noted.
