In 2024, 1,109 new companies with foreign owners were registered in 2024. This is 24.2% less than in 2023, when there were 1,464, Opendatabot reports . Compared to 2021, such businesses decreased by 60%, there were 2,770.
The "other" category ranks first in terms of the number of new foreign companies opened — 402 or 36.2%.
Most often, new foreign companies are engaged in:
- wholesale trade (255 companies, 23%);
- computer programming (109 companies, 9.8%);
- real estate transactions (86 companies, 7.8%).
If we talk about the period since the start of the full-scale invasion, then as of August 2024, 177 foreign IT companies had opened, or 5.8% of the total. Real estate was ahead of IT (206 or 6.7%), but everything changed by the end of 2024. Trade retained its leadership.
In total, citizens of 78 countries opened businesses in Ukraine last year. The most frequently registered companies were citizens of Turkey (201 businesses), Poland (90) and the USA (89). The fewest companies were opened by citizens of the UK (36) and Romania (39).
Almost half of new foreign companies are concentrated in Kyiv — 542 (48.9%). Lviv region — 137 companies (12.4%) and Odesa region — 122 companies (11%) were also popular regions.
