A new space for educational experiments has opened in Kyiv. The WINWIN EdTech Center of Excellence team will explore how Ukrainian students use AI, test digital tools in real classrooms, and seek solutions that can be scaled across the entire education system.

The space was opened with the participation of the President of Estonia, Alar Karis, the Minister of Digital Transformation, Oksana Ferchuk, the Minister of Education and Science, Andriy Butenko, the head of the center, Oksana Matiyas, as well as representatives of ESTDEV and the Eastern Europe Foundation. Estonia became one of the main partners of the project.
"Estonia has come a long way in the digital transformation of education, and we know that technological changes require not only tools, but also strong institutions, people, and the ecosystem around them. That is why we support the WINWIN EdTech Center of Excellence. For us, this is not a transfer of a ready-made Estonian model to Ukraine, but a partnership between two countries that can together create new approaches to education in the digital age," said Alar Karis.
Together with OpenAI, the team is investigating how Ukrainian teenagers use artificial intelligence in education and how it affects students, parents, and teachers. The project plans to survey 7,000 people and, based on its results, create a practical set of recommendations for working safely with AI.
The space is also developing EduStars Circle, a community of teachers who test EdTech and AI tools in their work and share experiences. The team is also testing Matific, a gamified platform with interactive exercises for learning mathematics.
In addition, the center, together with UNICEF, is developing approaches to evaluating digital and AI products before their implementation in Ukrainian schools, and has also joined the Digital Education Council's international study on the use of AI in universities.
In May 2026, dev.ua reported on a study of the use of AI in Ukrainian schools, which the center is conducting with the support of OpenAI.
