A trial will be held in Odessa against the organizers of a pseudo-investment scheme in cryptocurrency, which caused citizens losses of almost UAH 6 million.

According to the Cyber Police Department of the National Police, fake crypto investors accumulated contributions from deceived citizens in their own crypto wallets, and in return showed clients personal accounts on websites they created themselves.

«The attackers launched fake websites with „personal accounts“, where the investor saw the illusion of profit. In fact, all contributions went to the crypto wallets of the perpetrators. As soon as the amount became significant, communication with the victims was stopped,» the Cyberpolice reports.

According to the investigation, 9 people were involved in the transactions, including IT specialists.

«Law enforcement officers have proven the group’s involvement in 8 cases of fraud against foreign and domestic investors. The total amount of losses reaches UAH 5.75 million,» law enforcement officers note.

The organizers of the scheme face up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
