The SBS says that the unification will increase management efficiency and ensure «the transformation of the Forces and adaptation to the requirements of modern warfare».
«For the first time, the units will operate within a single vertical of control — with a defined structure, clear interaction, and a common vision of the tactics of using UAVs. This will ensure the implementation of unified approaches, coordination of actions, and more systematic combat use of unmanned systems», — the report says.
It is noted that this is one of the key stages in the implementation of the 100-day development plan of the SBS. Most of the units of the newly created group are already effectively performing combat missions. The command of the group is carried out by the commander of the SBS, Robert «Magyar» Brovdi.
The Drone Line project is an initiative of the President of Ukraine, coordinated by the Land Forces Command, the State Border Service, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, and the Ministry of Digital Transformation. It was launched in February 2025.
At the first stage, it included five regiments and brigades that had proven their effectiveness on the battlefield. These were the 20th separate regiment «K-2», the 429th regiment «Achilles», the 427th regiment «RAROG», the 414th brigade «Birds of the Magyar» and the «Phoenix» regiment (the «Revenge» brigade). According to the plan, together with other UAV units, they were to create a permanent line of drones to strengthen Ukrainian soldiers on the front line and ensure total control over all enemy actions and their destruction.
«We are combining infantry and UAVs into a single strike system. This will allow us to form a killzone 10-15 km deep, where the enemy will not be able to move without losses. Provide infantry with constant air support and cover. Detect and destroy targets before they even approach our positions. This will radically change combat tactics, giving our soldiers a decisive advantage,» said Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.
Recall that in early June, the commander of the 414th Brigade, Robert «Magyar» Brovdy, headed the Unmanned Systems Forces, replacing Vadym Sukharevskyi in this position.
Shortly after his appointment, Brody outlined how he would develop the branch of the military entrusted to him. His plan is for the next 100 days and, in particular, involves creating «12 layers of SBS influence» in the zone in tactical and operational depth.
