According to data from the investment company Fidelity, cited by Payspace Magazine, Ukraine has 46,351 bitcoins worth a total of $4.7 billion, lagging behind the United Kingdom — respectively, 61,245 bitcoins worth a total of $6.2 billion.
The first and second places were taken by the USA and China with quite comparable figures — 198,109 bitcoins for $20.1 billion in the States and 190,000 bitcoins for $19.2 billion in China.
Interestingly, the top of the ranking also includes two small countries — Bhutan and El Salvador.
According to Fidelity’s research, the approval and launch of spot Bitcoin ETPs (exchange-traded products) in early 2024 has led to a significant increase in demand for access to BTC among institutional and retail investors. This trend is expected to only accelerate in 2025.

As for government ownership of cryptocurrency, many countries have acquired this asset primarily through seizures and recoveries of funds related to illegal activities, rather than through their own reserves.
«We expect 2025 to be a watershed year in terms of both adoption and implementation. That is, we predict that more governments, central banks, sovereign wealth funds, and government treasuries will begin to form strategic positions in Bitcoin.
