KAI and MIT have opened a recruitment for the Ukraine Innovation and Engineering Lab engineering program for over 100 participants. They will create prototypes for real-world problems in 10 weeks
The National University "Kyiv Aviation Institute" and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) have opened a recruitment for the Ukraine Innovation and Engineering Lab. Participants will be grouped into teams and given real technological tasks from companies. In 10 weeks, each team must go from problem research to a working prototype.

Participants will be grouped into teams and given real technological tasks from companies. In 10 weeks, each team must go from problem research to a working prototype.
In total, the program plans to attract over 100 participants, form over 10 teams, and offer them at least 15 real-world cases. They will work according to the MIT engineering methodology with mentors from partner companies, MIT, and KAI.
Examples of tasks include a computer vision system for finding defects in production, a service for real-time rerouting of delivery routes based on IoT data, and an AI assistant that will work with a company's internal data. Participants will be able to use KAI labs from Ajax, Vodafone, and Huawei to create and test prototypes.
Senior undergraduate and graduate students in technical fields, as well as candidates with experience in development, AI, robotics, electronics, engineering, and related fields, are eligible to apply. You do not need to be a student at KAI to apply. After selection, participation will be free of charge.
The selection process will take place in September, with the program starting in October. The main 10-week cycle will last until December, with teams finalizing prototypes in January and presenting them at Demo Day in February 2027.
After Demo Day, work on individual projects can continue. If the prototype interests a partner company or has potential for further development, the team can refine it further or turn it into a separate product or startup.
Applications are already being accepted on the Ukraine Innovation and Engineering Lab website.
Previously, dev.ua wrote that KAI is developing a number of educational programs and laboratories together with technology companies. In particular, the university has collaborated with Vodafone, SoftServe, EPAM, Huawei, and Baykar, and has also developed courses in robotics, AI, cybersecurity, and unmanned technologies.
