The presentation of new unmanned systems was reported by the publication "Military" from the Defence24 Days exhibition in Poland. The new products were presented by the UMO company, which represents the Ukrainian "Ukrspetssystems" on the Polish market.
The large Bumblebee interceptor is designed to operate at operational-strategic depth. The device can reach speeds of up to 350 km/h, has a range of up to 30 kilometers and a flight duration of 14 minutes. The drone has a maximum operating altitude of 4 kilometers.
This autonomous drone carries a warhead weighing 1.2 kilograms and is capable of detecting enemy targets at a distance of up to 700 meters. “It closes the gaps in the coverage area of traditional air defense,” the developers explain the principle of using the device.
The algorithm of the complex involves receiving data about the threat from radars, acoustic systems or ground tablets. After the target is classified by speed, altitude and azimuth, the commander gives permission to intercept. Bumblebee starts vertically. Thanks to modern optics, the operator captures the target and can adjust the flight manually until the moment of defeat, after which the drone detonates.
Also at the exhibition, UMO showed its own development - a more compact and economical interceptor, previously named Vertex. This drone is equipped with a 500-gram warhead, covers a distance of 7–10 kilometers and stays in the air for up to 15 minutes. Its body is printed from carbon filament with the addition of carbon fibers, which makes the parts stiffer and prevents deformation in flight.
It was recently announced that the Ministry of Defense has contracted for 8,000 Octopus interceptor drones. Four different domestic companies are involved in the production of this batch.
