Ukrainian game development studio Frogwares has announced the release of The Sinking City 2, a third-person survival horror game set in a Lovecraftian setting. The game is now available for purchase, and early reviews from the specialized press indicate that the sequel has surpassed the original 2019 game.

On review aggregator Metacritic, the new game received a score of 79 out of 100 from game critics. For comparison, the first part of the series had an average score of 71. On the OpenCritic platform, the score is even higher — 81 points.
The standard edition of The Sinking City 2 currently costs UAH 1,365 on Steam and UAH 1,699 on the PS Store. The Deluxe Edition will cost players UAH 1,500 on PC and UAH 1,799 on PlayStation consoles.
The game takes place in the 1920s in the fictional town of Arkham, Massachusetts, which has been partially submerged by a mystical flood. The main character must rescue his beloved, whose soul has been trapped in Dreamland, and whose body has been stolen by unknown forces. Players are invited to explore the devastated areas with art deco architecture, hospitals, and underground locations, moving on foot or by boat.
The developers focused on classic survival horror elements: players will have to constantly conserve scarce resources and avoid direct encounters with dangerous enemies, including otherworldly "deep dwellers" and the undead. The studio notes that some battles are better not to engage in at all, retreating to a safe place to re-arm.
Although the emphasis in the new part has shifted significantly towards horror, the studio has retained its signature detective investigation mechanics. Players will be able to explore ritual sites, decipher found diaries, and complete side quests. The latter allow you to obtain valuable supplies, improve weapons, and find safer routes through the city.
Recall that in March last year, Frogwares launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for the creation of The Sinking City 2. In less than 24 hours, the developers raised twice the amount and completed the campaign with 554,000 euros.
Frogwares then suddenlyreleased The Sinking City Remastered , a remaster of the original game with improved graphics and gameplay. Owners of the original version have free access to the remaster.
