Fedorov said that Ukrainian appeared on Twitch after the Ministry of Digital Transformation appealed

First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov reported that Twitch added support for the Ukrainian language to the interface after the Ministry of Digital Transformation appealed to the platform’s CEO.
«In the summer, we officially asked Twitch to add the Ukrainian language to the main interface. The Ukrainian audience is one of the most active in Europe, and supporting the native language on global platforms is about identity and equal opportunities», Fedorov wrote.
He also released a letter to Twitch CEO Dan Clancy, stating that Ukrainian is the sole state language of Ukraine. The letter notes that «supporting the Ukrainian language on leading international digital platforms» is important to ensuring equal access for Ukrainian users of modern information services.
«The Twitch platform is very popular among Ukrainian citizens. Ukrainian users constitute one of the largest audiences in Europe, and Ukrainian streamers are active participants in the global Twitch community. The lack of Ukrainian localization limits users' ability to use the service, makes it difficult to search for and consume content in their native language, reduces the competitiveness of Ukrainian authors, and creates obstacles to the development of the national streaming community», the appeal stated.
The letter also states that adding a Ukrainian interface will make Twitch more accessible to Ukrainian users, promote the development of Ukrainian digital content, and strengthen ties between Ukraine and the international community.
«We received a response in October. Twitch supported full Ukrainian localization. The company emphasized that language access is key to community development and convenient content search», said Fedorov.
Twitch viewers from Ukraine have repeatedly requested that the platform add a Ukrainian interface language and created petitions. One of the oldest was created in 2016 and received over 28,000 votes.
