Ukraine took third place in the team medal standings of the world's first International AI Security Olympiad ICOA 2026. In total, the team brought home a gold, two bronze and a silver medal from the competition, and Ukrainian schoolboy Roman Melamud became second in the individual ranking.

The results of the competition were announced by representatives of Ajax Systems, which became one of the partners of the Ukrainian team.
At the Olympiad, schoolchildren worked with AI in three formats: using it to solve problems, looking for vulnerabilities in AI systems, and working with AI built into robotic devices.
At ICOA 2026 in Sydney, 65 participants from 20 countries and regions competed. In the main event, Roman Melamud took second place and won the gold medal. Oleksandr Petrenko came in 21st, and Mykyta Sukovach - 24th. Both received bronze awards. Melamud won another silver in a special Pioneer Round dedicated to the safety of AI in robotic systems. 15 participants reached the final part of this event.
