«Happiness is being a Fallout fan and creating a Vault-Tec monitoring system for your shelter. Monitoring the conditions in the wastelands has never been so exciting and interesting!», said a Ukrainian with the nickname meerkat in a post on the social network Threads.
His device resembles a tablet with a body that is probably 3D-printed. It displays information from Telegram channels about Russian UAV and missile launches, airstrikes, and a schedule of power outages. The system also displays a map of alerts by region in Ukraine.
The device’s interface is made in the style of the famous post-apocalyptic Fallout series from Bethesda. The main characters of these games are people from the Vaults who carry Pip-Boy portable computers with various useful information on their hands.
Meerkat’s post on Threads garnered almost two thousand likes and about a hundred comments, which came as a surprise to the developer.
«I can say right away that repeating this is not as difficult as it might seem, and it’s quite budget-friendly (at least, it worked out for me on a budget). Of course, it’s not without nuances and complexities. Especially with power outage schedules and settings,» the author of the system noted .
His device was also liked by Fallout fans on Reddit, who noted that it was «incredibly cool and sad at the same time.»
«I forget how lucky I was. My first thought was, ‘Cool, but not very useful.’ That was until I read ‘Ukraine,’» wrote one user.
