Indie studio Sandman Team and publisher Pingle Studio have released the platformer Through the Nightmares, which is reminiscent of projects like Celeste and Little Nightmares, on Steam, as well as on PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.
In Through the Nightmares, players take control of the Sandman, a spirit called upon to rescue children imprisoned by the Nightmare King.
He can change his size: shrink to slip through traps, or grow to smash through obstacles. This affects the physics of the game — the hero’s size changes the trajectory of jumps, inertia, interaction with traps, and also allows you to find hidden paths and secrets.
You’ll need your wits to navigate 45 levels, divided into three chapters and six eerie locations. Each one embodies the fears and painful memories of the imprisoned children — from a lonely night in a dark forest to spider-infested homes to a ruined castle rotting from within.
Three developers from Sandman Team — Albert, Katya, and Kyrylo — worked on the game for nine years.
«We started this project nine years ago. Today, Through the Nightmares finally saw the light of day. It’s real. And I couldn’t be more proud of it,» said Albert Kovnir.
In the Ukrainian region of Steam, Through the Nightmares costs 359 UAH with a 10% discount and already has 25 positive reviews. On PlayStation, where it has already been rated by over 140 players at 3.9 points out of 5, the project costs $20.
