Unitree became the first humanoid robot manufacturer to go public in mainland China. Initially known for its quadrupedal robots, Unitree began to actively develop humanoid models in 2023.
The company's most affordable humanoid is the R1 Air for $4,900. It stands 4 feet 11 inches tall, weighs about 60 pounds, and has 20 degrees of freedom, meaning its arms and legs can bend and rotate in 20 different directions. The more expensive R1 for $5,900 has 26 degrees of freedom: the robot can also move its head and torso, and its arms have more mobility.
The more famous G1 costs from $13,500. It is 132 cm tall and weighs about 35 kg. The basic model has 23 degrees of freedom, and research configurations have up to 43. For orientation in space, the G1 uses a depth camera and 3D lidar - they help the work determine the distance to objects and build a three-dimensional map of the surrounding space.
The full-size H2 is 182 cm tall, weighs about 70 kg and costs from $29,900. It has 31 degrees of freedom.
In parallel, Unitree continues to produce four-legged robots. For example, the Go2 costs from $1,600, weighs about 15 kg, and, depending on the version, can operate on a battery for about 2–4 hours.
Unitree gained great recognition thanks to demonstrations of the physical capabilities of its robots.
The H1 and G1 performed somersaults, sprints, and complex sequences. In January 2025, 16 H1 robots performed simultaneously during CCTV's Chinese New Year TV show. The G1 was later used in humanoid robot fighting tournaments and concert performances.
For the first nine months of 2025 73.6% of Unitree's revenue from humanoid robots came from scientific and educational institutions. Another 17.4% came from commercial scenarios, and about 9% from industrial use.
Based on G1, Jake the Rizzbot was also created - a robot in a cowboy hat and sneakers who walks the streets of American cities and communicates with passersby using youth slang.
And another G1 owner uses it as a co-host for a YouTube channel and sends it to "work" on various jobs. For example, in this video, the robot "works" at a gas station.
Unitree has already mastered the mechanics. Now the company wants to give the robot a “brain” that will allow it to independently understand an unfamiliar environment and perform various tasks without having to program each movement separately. To do this, Unitree is developing its own line of UnifoLM AI models.
In September 2025, the company unveiled UnifoLM-WMA-0, a model that learns to predict what will happen after a robot’s action and uses that prediction to choose its next moves. And in January 2026, Unitree unveiled UnifoLM-VLA-0, which combines what the robot sees, a human’s text command, and the physical action to be performed. DeepSeek will join this trend.
