Ukraine to host Cultural Hackathon for Digitalization of National Heritage: How Developers and Startups Can Participate and Get Grants

IT company OBRIO and cultural and educational project MUR invite developers, startups, and creatives to create digital products for Ukrainian culture. Finalists will compete for a grant fund and mentoring support from experts from Google, Spotify, Netflix, Bolt, and Silpo.
Why is this important?
"What is not in the digital space does not exist for the next generation" - this challenge became the main impetus for the joint initiative of OBRIO and MUR.
Today, a significant part of Ukrainian cultural heritage remains scattered among archives, private collections, books, and separate online platforms. At a time when artificial intelligence and digital services are defining how society seeks information and learns, Ukrainian culture needs modern, convenient, and technological formats.
Over a hundred years ago, philanthropist and publisher Yevhen Chykalenko donated his own resources to support Ukrainian press and education, calling for this work to continue. Today, continuing to “play this song” means developing digital archives, educational AI services, interactive applications, and new formats of interaction with culture.
"A good product forms a habit, and a habit gradually forms an environment. Young people choose what is interesting, modern, and close. Therefore, it is important to create conditions in which Ukrainian becomes part of this environment," notes Oleksandr Fedorov, CEO of OBRIO.
