According to Igor Fedirko, executive director of the Ukrainian Council of Arms Manufacturers, this year about 60% of the capacities of domestic defense enterprises remained unused.
He wrote about this on his Facebook account, summing up this year.
«In 2025, capacities were estimated at $35 billion, and expected purchases by the end of the year were $12–12.5 billion. That is, up to ~60% of capacities remain unused,» he concluded.
At the same time, he also focused on a number of positive aspects, in particular, the increase in the production of deep strike weapons.
«Capacities for long-range drones alone could reach ~$35 billion by 2026,» predicts Fedirko.
The executive director of the Ukrainian Council of Gunsmiths added that in the missile sector, Ukraine’s own rocket industry grew 8 times in 2024, and this trend was maintained in 2025. He also said that the mortar range was expanded.
Fedirko, among other things, also touched on the issue of arms exports, noting that, according to a survey by the Ukrainian Council of Arms Manufacturers, 94,4% of companies support the opening of controlled exports, but the first real export contracts under current conditions are possible no earlier than the second half of 2026.
Meanwhile, according to him, about 25 foreign defense companies are at various stages of localizing production in Ukraine.
«I am sure that the export issue is a vain hope.» Fire Point co-founder commented on the prospects for arms exports and announced a new agreement with an international partner
