"You must have your camera, microphone, and screen sharing turned on. Always, except for breaks." LinkedIn is discussing another trash job. The discussion has grown to 160+ comments
Kharkiv SMM specialist Timur Ibragimov published a screenshot of a correspondence with a recruiter, who told the specialist about the working conditions in the company. The requirements for organizing working hours, set out in the vacancy, caused a heated discussion — members of the professional community left more than 160 comments under the post. What surprised them so much?
Kharkiv SMM specialist Timur Ibragimov published a screenshot of a correspondence with a recruiter, who told the specialist about the working conditions in the company. The requirements for organizing working hours, set out in the vacancy, caused a heated discussion — members of the professional community left more than 160 comments under the post. What surprised them so much?
Here is a screenshot published by Timur. The employer company requires the candidate to have their camera, microphone, and screen sharing turned on at all times, supposedly for security purposes.
Moreover, only a 45-minute lunch break and three 15-minute coffee breaks are allowed.
The recruiter allegedly asks the candidate if he is ready to work under such conditions. The IT-people are hotly discussing such a proposal. Here are some of the most interesting answers among the hundreds of critical ones.
«I would try for x2 salary,» wrote developer Yevgeny Dobryansky. At the same time, IT recruiter Vladislav Leshkov has a more modest request: «Is the company ready to add 25% to the salary for inconvenience?»
«Webcams are for smokers. Seriously, it’s very sad when the main thing for a company is not the result you give, but that you stare at the monitor from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.,» wrote Frontend Software Engineer Andriy Voloshchenko.
«You idiots! I usually have a habit of passing information to third parties when I drink coffee or have lunch,» business analyst Nick Chepurny quipped.
«Does the company provide diapers? Because these „breaks“ are not included in the regulations,» asked Front-End Developer Inna Powalkina .
Full-stack Vue / .NET Developer Yan Dyakov called such working conditions «an absolutely shameful practice. Distrust of the employee from the first second of work…».
«For me, that’s a red flag and I wouldn’t agree now. But I had a similar experience before, where a camera with a microphone was turned on in a small office, and it was super strange and uncomfortable. If you suddenly think that somehow it will be like this, it won’t be, the company manager is 100% a fan of micromanaging and will interfere in every process, or stress that you spent a long time in the toilet…», — said from his own experience Python Backend Software Engineer Vadim Motsukh .
«In such ads, the first thing that interests people is the rate. For some reason, most people immediately think that we are talking about a minimum wage and react negatively. But is it worth mentioning $10,000+ per month? and immediately «so why didn’t they immediately say that this is just a corporate vibe? — of course I agree!», — wrote 1 °C/BAS platform expert Dmytro Kinash .
Flutter Developer Serhiy Baklan noted: «The only thing missing is a chain and a lock on the neck with a remote control. I put it on — a penny dripped. I need to go to the toilet or eat — I write a note to my boss, with a copy to HR.»
«For me personally, the need for a tracker is proof of the company’s complete lack of trust in its employees. I do not consider vacancies with such requirements. As they say, you need to work not 8 hours, but with your head,» says Front-End Web Developer Veronika P.
Recruiter Yana Sergienko says that such demands can only be made by a company consisting of desperate people, because only when they are no longer being hired anywhere can they agree to such a thing. «And then it is better to look for yourself elsewhere,» she believes.
