“We need to wear an extra sweater”. The head of Ukrenergo called for less load on the energy system with heating devices

The head of the national energy company Ukrenergo, Vitaliy Zaychenko, reported that the Ukrainian power system is struggling to cope with increased consumption, as many users are starting to heat their rooms with electrical appliances.
Zaichenko said this during a telethon, Ukrainska Pravda reports. He noted that electricity consumption has increased by 25% compared to September.
«Household consumers, who are currently the largest consumers of electricity in Ukraine, must change their behavior. We need to not bring the temperature indoors to a comfortable 20-22 degrees, but put on an extra sweater and thereby help our energy system», said the head of Ukrenergo.
According to him, most household consumers have switched to heating with air conditioners and heaters, and this has led to an increase in consumption. Zaichenko added that turning on the heating will improve the situation, but the temperature will also drop, so there will be no significant relief for the power system.
The Russian army continues to target Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. On October 7 alone, the enemy launched more than 26 strikes on energy facilities, knocking out power in several regions. YASNO Director General Sergey Kovalenko warned in September that there was no particular optimism after the latest shelling, and the coming winter could be the most difficult.
