SpaceX said it is working to identify violations in all markets where Starlink operates, CNN writes .
«In the rare cases where we identify violations, we take appropriate action, including working with law enforcement agencies around the world,» said Lauren Dreyer, SpaceX’s vice president of Starlink business operations.
SpaceX has «proactively identified» and disabled more than 2,500 Starlink kits near suspected «rogue centers,» she said.
Authorities in civil war-torn Myanmar said earlier that they had seized 30 Starlink «receivers and accessories» during a raid on one of the scam centers. The country is said to have about 30 sprawling, purpose-built complexes that defraud victims of billions of dollars each year.
Workers at scam centers are often lured by promises of high-paying jobs or are victims of human trafficking. They are routinely held against their will and forced to commit online fraud in high-security complexes. The United States has expressed concern that criminal groups in Myanmar are using Starlink to access the Internet and carry out their fraudulent operations.
Earlier, a review by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) found that it did not track the use of 5,175 Starlink terminals sent to Ukraine. Almost half of them ended up in areas fully or partially occupied by Russians.
