«Don’t write without a MacBook»
Designer Yana Demenina posted a job posting on Threads exclusively for MacBook owners. «How do you like this?» she commented .
A few days later, the girl published a revised version of the job description. However, the MacBook requirement remained.
«Russian is more convenient for the team»
Darya Chorna, Junior HR Recruiter, shared a rejection story that quickly went viral on LinkedIn. During the selection process for the position of recruiter, she was offered to switch to Russian — the manager was from Kazakhstan, «so it would be more convenient for the team.»
Darya replied that she was more comfortable working in Ukrainian. In response, she received a refusal with the wording: «there is a risk that you will be uncomfortable communicating with the team.»
«The question is not in my skills, not in my potential, not in my motivation. The question is in the language. 2026. Ukraine. And the candidate must adapt to the Russian-speaking environment in order to get a job,» she wrote .
Daria did not disclose the name of the company.
Polygraph at MEGOGO
«I responded to a vacancy from a fairly well-known company in Ukraine. And here again, the „unwanted“ one,» PPC specialist Oleksiy Bondarenko said on LinkedIn. In the comments to the post, he indicated that it was about MEGOGO.
Interestingly, even cleaning women in this company have to take a polygraph test.
«I’m currently looking for a job and have sent out my resumes for various positions: from a cleaner and a salesperson to an accountant and a manager! Today I received interesting news on Telegram. It turns out that to work as a cleaner… you have to pass a polygraph. You can go crazy. PS Apparently, a position with career growth prospects to a financial director is definitely worth taking,» wrote Tetyana Pryshchepa on Instagram.
Work.ua really has an open vacancy for «Office Cleaner» with a salary of UAH 11,000. The duties include: maintaining cleanliness and order in office premises, wet and dry cleaning, taking care of bathrooms, collecting and taking out garbage, etc.
According to the woman, after she responded to the vacancy, a company recruiter contacted her and informed her about two stages of the interview: with the manager and passing a polygraph test.
Tetyana published screenshots of correspondence with the recruiter, who explains that this is a company policy for security reasons. Usually, during the check, they ask about addictions (alcohol, drugs, gambling), whether there were any thefts on a particularly large scale, kickbacks, bribes, and whether information was transferred to third parties.
Judging by the correspondence, the woman was shocked. «I’m not going as a manager. These questions are appropriate for officials,» she replied.
«This is company policy. Our company is well-known, large, international. Our task is to warn, yours is to make a decision,» the recruiter wrote in response.
As a result, Tatyana refused: «Sorry, but you don’t suit me.»
Salary by eye color
Luka Tomovsky, CEO of «VANTABLACK» marketing agency, posted a vacancy for a marketing assistant with a salary of UAH 20,000-50,000. However, the real value of the candidate, as stated in the vacancy, will be determined depending on the color of the eyes.
«Honestly, I’m a little worried about the future marketing assistant at Massimo…because it’s not entirely clear what exactly I’ll have to assist with,» Luca noted and added a screenshot.
«Then you can even offer to work for free…»
HRD Vera Khvust is indignant: «I’m looking, so vacancies. And what do I see? Aaaaah. Well, this is some trash. I understand the English requirement, but the requirement to know ideally four languages for such a salary? Then you can even offer to work for free…».
«It turns out that not having a job is a stigma»
Python developer Olga Mageria has complained about being fired from her employer due to an alleged long period of unemployment. According to her, this is not the first such case.
«Rejection from the 'we’re out of fantasy' category,» she wrote, adding a screenshot of the employer refusing to cooperate because her last experience was in 2025.
According to the developer, recruiters pay attention to the fact that she has been looking for a job for about six months — and this is the reason for the rejections.
At the same time, the candidate emphasizes that she actively spends this time preparing for interviews and searching for vacancies. «I am busy looking for a job and preparing for interviews every weekday, and sometimes even on weekends. And it’s been like this for half a year,» she notes.
The developer admits that she is partly to blame, particularly for being nervous during the interview. She also emphasizes that she took a long time to transition into IT and doesn’t want to «go to work for the sake of work,» but is looking for a position that truly suits her.
However, according to her, the market situation also plays a significant role. «The IT market is oversaturated with candidates, companies are playing with AI and saying that it will replace their Juns, so there is no need to hire them,» the IT professional adds.
As a result, she says, not having a job is starting to be perceived as a «stigma,» regardless of the reasons. «It turns out that not having a job is a stigma. But I haven’t been sunbathing in the Maldives for six months,» the developer adds.
