Volodymyr Brodskyi asked the citizens of DOU about their attitude to the ethics of conducting interviews for others, giving an example from life when hired professionals were interviewed instead of candidates.
«What is more interesting, these people have been working for several months in the positions of Middle QA, Junior QA and are simply learning English while working…» Brodsky said.
We summarized the key theses from the discussion:
«But it’s a little strange to hear that people are going through this. Unless the English is checked by a „teacher“ or another outsourced person. From my experience, „cheating“ is usually very noticeable at an interview, although interviewers do not always give signals about it,» said developer Bohdan Shiyak.
Bohdan Shiyak also shared his own story: «At the university, I took a test for the position of junior instead of an acquaintance. A few months later, he ran into a person who worked with him in the same team. And this person asked an interesting question:
— You study together with X? Is he adequate at all? The guy did the test very well, he answered the theory in the interview normally (note, that person knew how to pass the exams), but he doesn’t screw them up at work, he doesn’t know how to program.»
AI/ML Tech Lead Oleksiy Nedashkivskyi: «They always cheated. Twice I met when one person came to the office for an interview and called himself another. All kinds of mini-headphones with tips did not appear today. The test is sent, and there is a .git folder with a history in which several people have committed. It is very surprising when someone dictates answers to a candidate in a whisper. This was all before the deepfakes.»
Volodymyr Rudy, CEO at AgileVision: «I had an experience when a candidate (probably Mykola Petrenko from Zhytomyr) who did not know Ukrainian came to a Zoom interview, and after turning on the camera, it turned out that Mykola is Asian and not exactly Mykola. And you say, deep fakes.»
Oleg Korol: «Once upon a time (a long time ago, before the appearance of all kinds of deepfakes), DBA hired a newcomer, but his professional level turned out to be much lower than he showed at the offline interview, and then it happened by chance that he had a twin brother.»
