Microsoft has sped up Windows 11 by 20%. Now the system should work better even on computers with 8 GB of RAM
Microsoft said that Windows 11 is up to 20% faster to respond to user actions. The company has revised how the operating system consumes memory and computer resources. Owners of budget laptops with 8 GB of RAM, which previously may have lacked the resources for comfortable work, should feel the most changes.

Previously, Windows would frequently move data from RAM to the slower disk. This could cause your computer to slow down, especially when you had many programs open at once. Now, Microsoft has improved memory management so that the system can store up to 2 GB more of the data you need in it. This should make it faster to launch programs and switch between them.
The company also decided not to waste precious megabytes on things that the user doesn't even use. For example, on computers with 8 GB of RAM or less, widgets now only load when opened. This frees up over 200 MB for other applications.
Microsoft has also made Windows updates less intrusive, made Windows Hello sign-in faster, and improved Bluetooth device connectivity. For example, AirPods can now connect 15 seconds faster.
The next big update will be a redesigned Windows Search. It will allow you to perform some actions directly from search results, such as enabling a dark theme or organizing open windows.
