She stated this in an interview with LIGA.net.
«Over the past year, the role of the gaming industry has changed significantly. Today, this market generates billions in tax revenues, provides significant license payments to the budget, and directly affects the country’s economy. At the same time, the state has received tools for digital control over the market, which have been absent for years. This has led to a high level of attention from the Cabinet of Ministers. Therefore, I would not interpret this decision as a weakening of the role of the Ministry of Digital Affairs. Rather, on the contrary, as a sign that the reform has reached a new level,» she noted.
According to Denikeyeva, this issue is «not of principle» for the Ministry of Digital Affairs.
«The main thing is that the reform moves forward and produces results, not who exactly coordinates the work of PlayCity. The Cabinet of Ministers has re-subordinated the agency to the government, and we are calm about this. Our task is to do our job, not to participate in political discussions,» the deputy minister added.
At the same time, she assured that the Ministry of Digital Affairs will continue to actively cooperate with PlayCity, remaining the body responsible for forming state policy and rules by which the gambling and lottery market will operate.
«Our role should definitely not be reduced to the development of individual technical solutions or integrations. We continue to interact with PlayCity and work on the next stage of the reform, in particular on legislative changes that should help accelerate the de-shadowing of the market, strengthen control, and make regulation more effective,» the ministry representative noted.
We will remind you that in May, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the transfer of PlayCity from the sphere of management of the Ministry of Digital Affairs directly to the Cabinet of Ministers.
At the same time, this decision took place against the backdrop of a public conflict: the head of the Finance Committee of the Verkhovna Rada, Danylo Hetmantsev, announced his demand for personnel decisions regarding the leadership of the Ministry of Digital Affairs and PlayCity.
Subsequently, the acting Minister of Digital Transformation, Oleksandr Bornyakov, as well as the ministry itself, voiced their official position regarding «systemic public attacks by People’s Deputy Danylo Hetmantsev.»
