"I am a soldier, and I have officers under my command." The head of development of "Birds of the Magyar" spoke about the tasks and work of his unit

Serviceman Markiyan (name changed for security purposes), who heads the development team in the SBS «Birds of the Magyar» brigade, shared the «inner kitchen» of his unit in an interview with DOU.
According to Markian, his team is engaged in development as part of the Data Collection and Processing Center.
«We have a fairly standard IT department that takes care of the software — no soldering, no tinkering with UAVs. Just software for working with data,» he says.
The main public product managed by his team is the online scoreboard SBS-calculation. «Data from our systems is aggregated into this dashboard, which is updated every few minutes,» the IT specialist comments .
At the same time, according to Markian, the center is primarily engaged in accounting for combat operations and tasks in the field of situational awareness.
«When you have many crews, accounting in electronic tablets is not effective. You need to record data on sorties, hits, and combat work in general. For example, there is a target, an FPV crew works on it. Then at night bombers fly over it, hit it, and later reconnaissance planes fly over it to further investigate what they hit at night. All this must be recorded in order to then generate reports,» he described the specifics of the center’s work.
According to a representative of the «Ptahí Magyar», the center’s analytics help commanders verify combat hypotheses and make decisions based on real numbers, not assumptions.
«Thanks to the numbers, it is easy to track which drones most often do not reach the target and simply fall. Globally, this works as a tool for checking situational queries. When a commander suspects that some element of the system is malfunctioning, he simply looks at the data,» he added.
As for the atmosphere and routine, Markian says that ranks don’t play a big role in their unit. «I’m a soldier, and I have officers under my command. The hierarchy essentially exists parallel to the army one,» the soldier says.
From the development team’s perspective, they are trying to work like a regular company, just without the remote format. The unit is based in the Dnipropetrovsk region, and the salary there depends on many factors, but starts at 50,000 UAH.
«It’s Schrödinger’s military cat: until an official (or not) order comes, you’re both in the infantry and not.» A new part of the mobilization diary from an IT guy in Threads — about intimidation in the army, a grenade in the barracks, and redeployment
