Ukraine is preparing data centers, the Internet, and communications for the “worst-case scenario.” What is the government planning?
Amid Russian attacks on data centers, Ukraine plans to protect its digital infrastructure in several ways. Some systems can be placed underground, some can be moved to the cloud or abroad, and for some facilities, all of these options can be combined.
Amid Russian attacks on data centers, Ukraine plans to protect its digital infrastructure in several ways. Some systems can be placed underground, some can be moved to the cloud or abroad, and for some facilities, all of these options can be combined.
This was stated by Prime Minister Serhiy Koretsky during a telethon. According to him, the issues of protecting data centers and mobile communications have already been discussed at a meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Headquarters. He claims that there is no universal way to protect the entire digital infrastructure. The state plans to use different methods of backup for different systems.
“Something has to be underground, something has to be in the cloud, something has to be overseas, something has to be a mix, and something has to be all three at the same time,” he explains.
Koretsky added that when planning such protection, it is necessary to start from the "worst case scenario" and prepare backup solutions in advance.
Earlier, dev.ua wrote that the latest Russian attacks damaged a number of data centers in Kyiv and caused disruptions in the work of Internet providers and digital services. In particular, after a series of attacks, the Cosmonova data center was disabled and will no longer work, so the company began restoring services from backup sites.
