Ukrainian IT specialists abroad will receive $200-$500 more: a particularly noticeable difference in DevOps and Analyst, the smallest difference in QA
DOU analyzed the salaries of 2,622 IT professionals living abroad who participated in the winter salary survey. 92% of them live in Europe and only 3% in the US or Canada. How much do their salaries differ from Ukrainians?

The majority of IT professionals abroad are developers, 43%, and testers, 17%, according to the DOU study.
The largest number of Ukrainian IT specialists is in Europe:
most of them live in Poland — 39%;
Spain ranks second in terms of the number of Ukrainian IT specialists, followed by Germany — 10% and 5%, respectively;
in Romania also 5%;
Portugal and Bulgaria — 4% each;
3% each moved to the Czech Republic and Slovakia .
In addition, more experienced specialists moved abroad more often — 60% of Senior+ level, while in Ukraine there were 45%.
27% of them are middle-aged abroad, compared to 34% in Ukraine.
Juniors and interns — 8%, in Ukraine — 16%.
The share of women among IT professionals abroad is slightly higher than in Ukraine (31% versus 28%). However, the majority are men: 69% abroad, 72% in Ukraine.
More than half of IT professionals living abroad still work through a Ukrainian sole proprietorship, gig contract, or are employed by a company in Ukraine.
Salaries abroad
«Net» median salaries of specialists abroad are higher than in Ukraine:
median in the US — $7,500 per month;
in Europe — $3,500 (the median salary of IT professionals in Ukraine is $2,500).
Difference in experience:
for specialists with 3–5 years of experience, the difference in salaries in Ukraine and abroad is on average 34%;
for more experienced professionals, this gap is smaller — about 11%.
Median salaries by specialization:
Software Engineer (896 applications): with experienceup to 3 years will receive $1200 (in Ukraine — $900), 3-5 years of experience — $2900 (in Ukraine — $2500), with experience over 5 years — $5000 (in Ukraine — $4500).
QA (351 questionnaires): with up to 3 years of experience will receive $800 (in Ukraine — $875), 3-5 years of experience — $2100 (in Ukraine — $1800), with over 5 years of experience — $3500 (in Ukraine — $3300).
DevOps (84 questionnaires): 3-5 years of experience — $4000 (in Ukraine — $2825), with experience over 5 years — $5000 (in Ukraine — $4500).
Analyst (64 applications): 3-5 years of experience — $2700 (in Ukraine — $2250), with experience over 5 years — $4200 (in Ukraine — $3200).
