6 of the 20 most popular applications belong to Ukrainian developers, and VK and Yandex Alice are still among the requests — a study of mobile applications in Ukraine for 2024
Experts from the Internet marketing agency Webpromo analyzed the ranking of the most popular applications among Ukrainians in 2024 and its changes in recent years. They also studied the dynamics of Ukrainian-language queries in the AppStore and Google Play, and checked popular applications in Ukraine and abroad for the presence of a Ukrainian-language version.
Experts from the Internet marketing agency Webpromo analyzed the ranking of the most popular applications among Ukrainians in 2024 and its changes in recent years. They also studied the dynamics of Ukrainian-language queries in the AppStore and Google Play, and checked popular applications in Ukraine and abroad for the presence of a Ukrainian-language version.
TOP 20 most popular apps for 2024: key findings
According to Data.ai, the top 20 positions in the ranking are occupied by entertainment, social, utility/productivity, finance, shopping, and gaming apps.
First place in the overall ranking is taken by TikTok, which is currently one of the main tools for promoting business online.
Among the leaders of social networks in the general rating are TikTok, Threads, Instagram, and Facebook. Among messengers, Ukrainians prefer Telegram, with WhatsApp in second place.

Six of the TOP-20 applications in the overall ranking belong to Ukrainian developers. The leader is the Nova Poshta application, My Kyivstar and Diya. The other three are the mobile banking services Privat24 and monobank, as well as the Air Alert application, which has not left the rankings for three years in a row.
However, the TOP positions for Android and iOS devices are slightly different. Among iOS users, the most popular are the Temu marketplace, Google search (since it may not be installed by default), and the Threads social network.
Android users use TikTok and the Telegram messenger the most, Temu is only in third place. At the same time, the social network Threads did not even make the TOP-20 list.
ChatGPT’s popularity. The presence of the chatbot in all TOP-20 rankings indicates that Ukrainians actively use AI in their everyday lives.
It should be noted that in Ukraine, the number of Android users prevails. Thus, the market share of this mobile operating system is 67,32%, while for iOS — 32,31%. Here is what the TOP-20 for Android and iOS look like.
How has the ranking of the most popular apps changed over the last four years?
Chrome, Gmail, and YouTube lost their positions in the 2023 and 2024 rankings. Viber and Facebook remained in the top five of the 2021-2022 leaders, but they occupy lower positions compared to 2023.
Temu first entered the TOP 3 in 2024, pushing Instagram down a few places.
The social network Threads also made it into the ranking for the first time, surpassing even Facebook in popularity.
TikTok remains the most popular social network, and Telegram is the most used messenger.
Ukrainians' interest in mobile games has decreased somewhat: currently, only the Brawl Stars application has made it to the rating, taking 18th place.

The following search queries have the greatest dynamics in popularity: «nova poshta app download», «vaiber download for free», «ukrnafta app download».
Users are increasingly interested in downloading applications for «everyday» life: Silpo, Diya, Uber, Kyivstar, etc.
The demand for downloading social networks and messengers — Viber, Facebook, WhatsApp — remains.
Demand for mobile banking services from A-Bank, Kredobank, Oschadbank, FUIB, Raiffeisen Bank, OTP Bank, and Idea Bank is actively growing.
In the third year of the full-scale invasion, Ukrainians are still interested in applications such as VK and Yandex Alice.
Dynamics of Ukrainian-language and Russian-language search queries: how the volume of demand has changed in recent years
On iOS devices, Ukrainian-language search queries, which are typical for searches for Ukrainian applications, are leading by a small margin.
Ukrainian-language queries dominate when searching for applications from Ukrainian developers — «Diya», «Kyivstar», «Nova Poshta». The number of relevant search queries has increased compared to 2023, which is likely due to the growing popularity of applications.
There is a slight downward trend in Russian-language queries in popular social media applications.
How many popular applications have a Ukrainian version?
Of the TOP-20 most popular applications on all devices in Ukraine, only 1 does not have a Ukrainian-language version — the mobile game Brawl Stars.
Webpromo experts analyzed the 100 most popular applications on all devices in Ukraine. Among them, 41 applications do not have a Ukrainian-language version.
Of the 100 most popular apps on all devices in Germany, 36 apps have a Ukrainian version (in 2 apps, it was not possible to view supported language versions). In Poland, 40 apps have a Ukrainian version (in 4 apps, it was not possible to view supported language versions).
In the Czech Republic, 34 applications have a Ukrainian version (in 2 applications, it was not possible to view the supported language versions).
For the most part, Ukrainian-language versions have world-famous social networks and work platforms from Google and Microsoft, as well as local applications that are critically necessary for a comfortable stay in a particular country. For example, services for booking accommodation, online banking, food delivery, taxis, hospital appointments, etc.
