UX/UI designer Andriy Kolodyazhensky created the Wayly app, which combines navigation, detailed travel statistics, and photo memories on one map. The service will be useful for anyone who loves to explore the environment — from city walks to mountain climbs. It will be especially useful for hikers, trail runners, and cyclists.
UX/UI designer Andriy Kolodyazhensky created the Wayly app, which combines navigation, detailed travel statistics, and photo memories on one map. The service will be useful for anyone who loves to explore the environment — from city walks to mountain climbs. It will be especially useful for hikers, trail runners, and cyclists.
Andriy Kolodyazhensky himself has been actively using various services for navigation in the city and mountains for a long time. To fully track routes and statistics, he had to keep up to four different applications on his smartphone (including AllTrails and Komoot), which took up several gigabytes of memory and stored disparate data. To solve his own problem and collect all the necessary tools in one place, the IT guy decided to create a single universal product.
Wayly key features:
the interactive map unfolds as the user explores new streets, cities, regions or countries;
recording of runs, walks and bike rides using GPS with display of speed, distance, time and elevation gain;
convenient route construction "by points", turn-by-turn navigation, downloading offline maps, as well as exporting in GPX format to sports watches (Garmin, Suunto, COROS, etc.);
displaying pictures from the phone directly on the map at the points where they were taken;
the ability to group tags, add friends by tag, and customize the visibility of your activities (only for yourself, for friends, or for everyone).
The service is already available in the App Store (except for the EU region, but downloading is possible when changing the store localization) and in the web version , and a release for Android is planned soon.
The developer is already preparing a large-scale update to Wayly, which will add social features, a full-fledged trip planner, and an updated UI. The project backlog still has many new ideas and tasks that will be implemented gradually, and further improvements to the web version of the service are also planned.
