Former Palantir employees have raised €5 million to develop an AI agent that will become an “autonomous data engineer.” What will it be able to do?

German startup Zeit AI, founded by two former Palantir employees, has raised about €5 million to develop ZeitMind, an AI agent to which they want to transfer some of the work of data engineers.
Investors include Y Combinator, one of the world's most famous startup accelerators. Another notable investor is Sequoia Capital Scout Fund, a program of Sequoia, which has invested in Apple, Nvidia and Stripe. As well as Oxford Seed Fund, ACE Ventures and Hasso Plattner VC, associated with SAP co-founder Hasso Plattner.
ZeitMind can already connect to ERP, CRM, databases and other corporate systems, collect information from various sources and bring it into a form suitable for analysis. Then the user can ask it, for example, to build a report, dashboard or internal application.
Developers are gradually giving the agent more autonomy. Zeit AI claims that ZeitMind can already complete 100–300 steps to build an application on its own. So the user can check the result at the end instead of having to approve each individual change.
In the future, Zeit AI wants to turn it into an “autonomous data engineer.” That is, the agent would prepare data and build analytics, then support the created solutions in operation and launch actions based on the data — for example, it would notice budget overruns and transfer tasks to the responsible team.
Previously, dev.ua wrote that Microsoft is developing tools that help AI agents work with corporate data and transform "raw" information into business context.

IT Arena Lviv 2022
