President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the creation of a special contract program for young people aged 18–24, which will provide the opportunity to earn up to UAH 1 million per year of service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
He announced this during a press conference with the participation of the President of the European Investment Bank, Nadiya Calvino.
According to Zelensky, the contract program for participants will also provide free education and preferential conditions for obtaining a mortgage. The initiative was developed in conjunction with leading military experts.
«We will soon announce all the details of this contract. One of the important points is the opportunity to earn up to UAH 1 million per year of service. In addition, after completing service, young people will be able to enter higher education institutions without exams and study at the expense of the state. It is also planned to introduce special conditions for obtaining a mortgage, where the state covers all interest,» Zelensky said.
UPD. Volunteers who joined the army earlier can also receive 1 million. This statement was made during a telethon by the spokesman for the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Dmytro Lazutkin. According to him, to receive funds, such servicemen need to contact their commanders.
«It is probably unfair to neglect those people who have already taken this step. The payment of a one-time cash reward of 1 million hryvnia is provided for those servicemen of the ranks of privates, sergeants and foremen who joined the army at the age of 25 before the new contract terms came into force. That is, these people can contact their commanders and find out about the algorithm for receiving this cash reward,» he said.
Recall that previously, representatives of the Democratic and Republican parties of the United States pressured Volodymyr Zelensky on the issue of mobilizing military conscripts from the age of 18.
On October 18, Zelenskyy stated that the Ukrainian authorities have no plans to mobilize into the Armed Forces from the age of 18. International partners would like to lower the mobilization age, but Ukraine sees no reason for such changes and currently considers them dangerous.
