What was the dialogue between the government and business like?

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with the Council for Supporting Entrepreneurship under Martial Law.

"Of course, I am grateful that you are working. Preserving jobs for us is not just abstract things, it gives us the opportunity to survive in this war. If there are any things that the state can solve quickly and it depends on the political will of the authorities and the speed of certain institutions, I am ready to help as much as possible right now," the president noted.

The event was attended by owners and managers of the largest Ukrainian companies operating in the pharmaceutical, logistics, agro-industry, energy, telecommunications, services, financial and banking sectors, as well as defense industry enterprises.

The meeting, in particular, discussed the continuation of the "Made in Ukraine" program. As noted on the OP website, entrepreneurs at the meeting proposed expanding the program to the security and defense sector.

The publication "Economic Truth", citing interlocutors, writes that the purpose of Zelensky's meeting with business was "synchronization" between the authorities and entrepreneurs and the stable work of the latter.

It is reported that about 25 business representatives attended the meeting. Many were unable to attend. For example, at least three of the seven members of the Council, which was established in January, were absent from the meeting: SoftServe co-founder Taras Kytsmey, monobank co-founder Oleg Horokhovsky, and Ajax Systems Supervisory Board Chairman Oleksandr Konotopsky.

"Many people were unable to join because they were not in Kyiv. Some went to the celebration, some simply couldn't be there," says one of the publication's interlocutors.

The authorities focused on the issue of stable operation of enterprises in the coming year. Business, in turn, touched on cases of VAT refunds, as well as general issues: the adoption of the law on the bona fide acquirer, amendments to the Code of Civil Procedure proposed by the Council of Entrepreneurs.

According to the meeting participants, the president immediately delved into the details of the businessmen's questions and tried to reach a decision on each of them. "Most of the tasks were immediately assigned to people from his team," said another UP interlocutor in business circles.

As a reminder, on January 26, President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree on the creation of the Council for Supporting Entrepreneurship under Martial Law. This is an advisory and consultative body under the President of Ukraine.

The Council includes the founder of the Netpeak Group, Artem Borodatyuk; co-owner of monobank, Oleg Horokhovsky; co-founder of Nova Poshta, Vyacheslav Klymov; founder of Ajax Systems, Oleksandr Konotopsky; Chairman of the Council of the Federation of Employers of Ukraine, Dmytro Oliynyk; co-owner of Biopharma, Kostyantyn Yefymenko, and president of SoftServe, Taras Kytsmey.

After the first meeting, Konotopsky , like the other two members of the Entrepreneurship Support Council, Oleg Horohovsky and Artem Borodatyuk, published, in his opinion, an important disclaimer: "I am engaged in business, and I am not interested in politics and power. I am interested solely in Ukraine, as a jurisdiction for doing business, taking a worthy place in the world. And this is exactly the direction in which our efforts as the Council will be directed.
