“Zero percent probability.” Nvidia CEO rejects AI doomsday scenario and accuses competitors of evading laws

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said artificial intelligence will not develop to a level capable of destroying humanity in the coming years. He called such apocalyptic predictions irresponsible and accused AI developers of trying to avoid responsibility under current legislation.

The head of the world's most expensive AI chip manufacturer said this in an interview with CBS News, The Gurdian reports .

Huang's statement came in response to recent comments by former Anthropic researcher Jacob Coxon that AI could become "superhuman" and destroy humanity by the end of the decade . Nvidia's CEO has strongly rejected such claims.

"2030 will not be the end of the world. There is a zero percent chance that it will lead to the end of the world. Scare people is unnecessary. It is irresponsible," Huang stressed, adding that such predictions have no scientific basis.

The Nvidia CEO also criticized recent calls by other AI companies (including OpenAI and Anthropic) for new national and international safety regulations, arguing that the real purpose of such initiatives is to avoid liability under existing laws.

Huang recalled recent cybersecurity incidents that occurred during testing of advanced models and noted that there is already a sufficient legal framework to address them.

“We have laws about unauthorized access, liability for damages. If your product doesn’t work as you promised, and if you have contracts with companies, there are a lot of laws for that. Apply those first. Don’t let this apocalyptic narrative exempt them from existing laws. Read between the lines: they are not asking for new laws, but exemptions from existing ones. And I see that as a problem,” the company’s CEO explained.
