The project How we Stand with Ukraine highlights ways to help Ukraine from different parts of the world. This time we are going to write about Kazakhstan, where volunteers and organizations are collecting humanitarian aid to send to Ukraine. Here you can find out how to join the movement.
There are many small private initiatives in Kazakhstan; almost all of them ultimately come together at the Ukrainian Embassy (12 Zhylyoi Street, Karaoktel-2, Nur-Sultan). A political initiative El Bolashagy (Ел болашағы/The Future of the Country) has been actively cooperating with the Embassy. Here’s their Instagram page.

The most significant figure in helping Ukraine is Togzhan Kozhaly, head of this initiative, a prominent public activist and philanthropist. The Ukrainian aid movement in Kazakhstan is led by women. Kogzhan publishes the latest news about the Headquarters for Assistance to Ukraine on her Facebook page, where you can learn where and what kind of help is needed.
If you are in Kazakhstan, there are three ways to help.
Collect humanitarian aid.
We accept clothing, food, hygiene products, medicines, and pet food. To simplify sorting, everything should be packaged separately by category: groceries (cereals, canned foods, nuts, dried fruit, cookies); items (clothes, shoes, blankets, towels, plaids and other textiles); hygiene (all feminine hygiene products, tissues, diapers, toilet paper); household goods (power banks, tableware, pacifiers, sleeping pads, flashlights); medical supplies (syringes, bandages, iodine, antipyretics).
Volunteers have been collecting aid since the first days of the war. The Headquarters for Humanitarian Support for Ukraine has been set up at the Ukrainian Embassy in the Republic of Kazakhstan. Since the beginning of the war, nine airplanes and three trucks have already delivered more than 140 tons of humanitarian cargo from Kazakhstan collected by the volunteers of the Headquarters.
Each box going to Ukraine comes with an insert with the flags of the two countries and the text «To the people of Ukraine from the people of Kazakhstan.»

«We have put aside our main work and our studies to do something to help Ukrainians in these difficult times. We believe that our humanitarian mission right now is the real help we are in a position to offer the Ukrainians. Volunteers put their hearts and souls into this work. We are going through this difficult period together with the Ukrainians,» says volunteer Nazym Sagidollina.
Volunteers can also join the headquarters information service (journalists, copywriters, designers, videographers) and the humanitarian fundraising service. To do so, fill out the volunteer form where you can describe your area of expertise and resources to help determine your level of involvement.
The project was prepared by the Klats-Klats content agency, which is part of the dev.media group. The agency makes partner projects of any format and publishes them on dev.by, dev.ua, bbbl.dev and other platforms.
