6,500 euros to develop your own business: a new program for veterans and their families is launched

This is a new opportunity for veterans and their family members from Kyiv, Lviv, and Vinnytsia regions to expand their existing business.
This is a comprehensive 4-month educational and practical program designed to support war veterans in Ukraine and their family members who are already running their own businesses. It is financially supported by the European Union, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in cooperation with the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine and Startup Ukraine.
“The program is designed to help participants strengthen their businesses, find new meaning and stability in civilian life through the development of entrepreneurial activity,” the project press release states.
Who can participate?
- Veterans discharged from military service who have their own business operating for at least 6 months in Kyiv, Lviv, or Vinnytsia regions.
- Family members of veterans, as well as fallen defenders of Ukraine (1st degree of kinship), who have their own business operating for at least 6 months in Kyiv, Lviv or Vinnytsia regions.
- Businesses that have officially employed veterans and operate in the specified regions.
What does participation in the program entail?
- Offline training - three-day business training in Kyiv, Lviv or Vinnytsia for 100 participants;
- Mentoring support — two months of individual work with experienced entrepreneurs and business consultants;
- A grant of €6,500 for 45 finalists who will defend their business plans;
- Psychological assistance — support from specialists to strengthen internal support and adapt to civilian life;
- Promotion of veteran businesses — veterans' stories will be covered in online media as part of a national information campaign.
How will everything happen?
Participants will start with intensive offline training, where they will gain knowledge about the basics of doing business, analyzing the current state, and scaling the business. Then, each will work on their own business project under the guidance of a mentor. The best projects will receive funding for implementation.
