A platoon of 28 ground drones. The Ukrainian Armed Forces conducted the first large-scale assault on Russian positions using only robots
The Ukrainian military used 28 ground-based robotic systems to attack Russian army positions at once. This is the first recorded attempt at an offensive in which a full-fledged platoon of robots operated instead of traditional infantry.
The Ukrainian military used 28 ground-based robotic systems to attack Russian army positions at once. This is the first recorded attempt at an offensive in which a full-fledged platoon of robots operated instead of traditional infantry.
Military expert Yigal Levin reported on the unusual battle after analyzing videos and reports widely published by Russian military channels.
According to the enemy side, Ukrainian forces launched unmanned platforms of various purposes into the battle. In particular, the assault involved two complexes equipped with automatic grenade launchers, 18 platforms with hand grenade launchers, and eight ground-based kamikaze robots.
Russian Z-channels are reporting a recent battle involving 28 Ukrainian UGVs that took part in an offensive several days ago, sharing footage of the engagement. According to the Z-channels, the attack was repelled by Russian drone operators, and they describe the engagement as "the largest visually documented battle involving ground robots since the beginning of the war." The Z-channels emphasize that, for the first time, Ukrainian forces attempted an offensive without infantry support, deploying only 28 UGVs (a robotic platoon). According to their reports, the attacking force consisted of two platforms equipped with automatic grenade launchers, 18 UGVs armed with handheld grenade launchers, and eight kamikaze UGVs.
The occupiers claim that they tried to repel this attack with the help of drone operators. The Russians themselves acknowledge the unprecedented nature of the event, calling it “the largest visually recorded clash involving ground robots during the entire war.” The main feature of the operation was the complete absence of manpower on the battlefield, as the Ukrainian military controlled the machines remotely.
