Aitivets was rejected after an offer due to an internal review. The company did not give a reason, so now the candidate is left wondering what went wrong while the Threads community is making their own guesses.
Imagine: you've gone through several rounds of interviews, received an offer, the team is already waiting for you to leave, and then suddenly you're rejected due to an internal background check, the details of which remain a secret. An IT worker from Odessa found himself in such a situation.
Imagine: you've gone through several rounds of interviews, received an offer, the team is already waiting for you to leave, and then suddenly you're rejected due to an internal background check, the details of which remain a secret. An IT worker from Odessa found himself in such a situation.
A user named pandatheslayer told Threads that he lost his job due to layoffs about a month ago. He worked for a gambling company, and his next employer was also in the industry.
He received an offer after the second technical interview, but a few days later he was rejected. They explained that he had failed an internal background check. They refused to give the reason, noting that this was confidential information.
"The team was already waiting for my release, they say everyone really liked it, but here it is... And the reasons are completely unknown," the IT guy wrote in Threads.
The new company is from Ukraine, and, according to the IT worker, it is decent, and "such methods are considered scum."
As noted in the comments, the process in the company is not built entirely correctly - the offer before the verification is completed looks "strange."
Under the post, IT people expressed assumptions about possible reasons
The IT recruiter suggested that the reason for the rejection could have been a mistake during the verification, for example, due to a namesake with a bad reputation. She noted that in their practice in such cases, the candidate is usually asked to confirm or deny the information, and advised the author to ask about it himself.
The author of the post replied that he did it first. However, the company remained adamant: they simply repeated to him that the reason for the refusal was confidential and refused to engage in further dialogue.
Another user noted that there is a possibility that the company was not going to hire. The author of the post was in the status of a "backup option", and the employer used this time to negotiate with the main applicant on its terms.
Another person expressed a similar opinion. The official refusal could be due to either the freezing of the project or another candidate. The author also leans towards the latter, although he wonders: why was there a need to drag out time and go through so many stages if it was possible to refuse earlier.
Someone asked if there was a place of birth or a place of residence on the TOT. To which the IT worker replied that everything was fine with the documents, the place of residence and place of birth were Odesa. Although the surname is common, the author doubts that it could have been confused with someone suspicious, because a check for the TIN would have easily resolved this issue.
Another story
A user shared her husband's story. Although he hadn't advertised for a job, the company's security team independently found his current manager through LinkedIn and called him. This ruined his relationship at his current job, and because of the manager's negative feedback, he never got the new job.
"Then, for this practice, the company was somewhat "gloried" in specialized forums, then asked to delete the reviews and apologized, but I didn't get the job precisely because of that call," the woman added.
“There is a risk that you will be uncomfortable communicating with the team.” The recruiter said she was rejected because she did not want to switch to Russian during the interview
"They're looking for someone with experience in the last year. Your last experience was in 2025." The developer told how she was rejected by a potential employer due to a small gap in experience
“We decided to give preference to candidates with classic, stable experience in companies.” QA Team Lead spoke about the employer’s rejection due to her freelance experience. There is a discussion on LinkedIn with 100+ comments
